Use this checklist for any time you work with other people to accomplish a common goal.

5 Points: Excellent (I displayed all of the following characteristics correctly)

  1. You communicate effectively with your team. They get what you are saying.
  2. You share ideas with your team and engage them in discussion every time.
  3. You listen to what your teammates have to say. You wait your turn.
  4. You help your team by explaining (you don't just give them answers).
  5. You contribute; you do your own share. You don't just sit back and let others do all the work.
  6. You let others do their share; you don't do all the work yourself.
  7. You are with your team; you don't wander off to talk about things unrelated to the class topic.
  8. You encourage and praise your teammates on a regular basis.
  9. When difficulties arise, you help problem solve.

3 Points: Great start but you still need to improve

  1. You sometimes communicate effectively with your team, but sometimes they misunderstand you.
  2. You share ideas with your team sometimes, other times you keep your ideas to yourself.
  3. You don't always listen to your teammates.
  4. You sometimes give answers without really showing teammates how to do get the answer, or you just tell them the answer without saying where it came from.
  5. You contribute; you do your own share most of the time. Sometimes you do sit back and let the others work without paying attention to what they are doing.
  6. You sometimes just do the work yourself because, otherwise, it just won't get done.
  7. You are with your team most of the time, but sometimes you wander off to talk to a friend on another team.
  8. You rarely encourage and praise your teammates.
  9. Sometimes when problems arise, you help make the problem worse not better.

1 Points: Still in the learning stage, you have to try using more skills

  1. You find it difficult to communicate effectively with your team.
  2. You rarely share your ideas with your team.
  3. You often tune your teammates out and don't listen.
  4. You rarely give answers and when you do, you don't explain. It's too much work because they don't understand you.
  5. You often just sit back and let others do all the work.
  6. You often work by yourself and don't include your teammates.
  7. You wander off quite a bit to talk to others about things not related to the class topic.
  8. You never encourage and praise your teammates.
