Love Learning

After a stimulating faculty meeting we were given two prompts to respond to as a closing activity. Here is the one I chose and my response.

What is it you really wish your students can learn from you?

If I had only one thing all year that my students would take away from their time with me it would be a love of learning. That’s it. To love learning.

For those who love learning nothing is impossible.
For those who love learning motivation is internal.
For those who love learning life is an adventure.
For those who love learning everything is a new challenge.
For those who love learning challenges are a good thing.
For those who love learning problems are welcome.
For those who love learning school is fun.
For those who love learning it’s okay to be a nerd.
For those who love learning growing old doesn’t mean getting old.

I envision a class full of students who don’t wait for me to tell them what we will be learning today.
I envision a class full of students who are happy to be together everyday.
I envision a class full of students who find enjoyment in learning Science.
I envision a class full of students who relish finding new ways to share what they are learning.
I envision a class full of students who socialize about what they are learning.
I envision a class full of students who text or use Facebook to discuss what they are learning in class.
I envision a class full of students who see each other as people to learn from and share with.
I envision a class full of students who are happy to be life long learners because they can’t imagine life any other way.

So it starts with a love of learning.
