Energy, Machines, and Motion Almost Over

March is upon us and we are working hard to complete the Energy, Machines, and Motion kit work. We got farther this year than in previous years because I started this kit earlier than ever before. It paid off because we got to the second unit and students have been learning about inclined planes, pulleys, and levers! It has been very exciting. Once we are done with the kit I will begin the process of grading student notebooks. So by Tuesday, March 6, students in 6th grade will start using their second notebook as we begin our Water Quality unit.

In 7th grade students are studying the earth’s plates and looking at data to determine plate boundaries and which way the plates are moving. This is all part of the Earth Movement project. We are learning about earthquakes by reading our Earth Science textbook and taking notes. Students are learning how to take notes using the outline format.

In 8th grade students are working on their websites and they are doing some very exciting things like putting YouTube.com movies on their webpages and making some great animations for their webpages. I’m looking forward to posting those by the end of the trimester.
