Energy, Machines, and Motion Well Underway

In 6th grade science we are working through our Energy, Machines, and Motion kit (EMM).

Here is a sample of what students do for Lesson 7 (at the bottom are our Inquiry Boards for lab write-ups).

Sixth graders are learning physical science as well as how to write up labs. Learning how to write up their labs is considered learning the process of science or the scientific method. This is also an important component to passing the science WASL in 8th grade. The EMM kit has an online resource (click on the online resource link) kids can use at home or in the library if they need extra credit or just want to review what we learned in class. I’m not making this a requirement just yet. To keep track of what is required or what is covered in class, please visit my homework section often.

In 7th grade science we are continuing to study density and the week of Halloween we will be learning about isostasy and its relationship to density. All this is essential to understanding plate tectonics. Visit our 7/8 Earth Science Webpage for links and handouts.

In 8th grade Computer Graphics and Web Design I have taught students how to use Fireworks, Flash and now Dreamweaver. They have all the skills they need to create their final websites and that’s what they are working on right now. They will work on their websites until the end of this trimester.
