Using Dreamweaver MX

Lesson 1

    1. Using the Site Window. (Site, Open Sites gets it back and don't forget Window, Insert and Properties to get the tool bars you will need.)
    2. How to start a new document (File, New, Create).
    3. How to save correctly.
      1. To save, save in YOUR folder,
      2. YES - Alphanumeric,
      3. YES - Dashes and underscores AND .html or .htm (pictures please only .gif and .jpg - don't use .png),
      4. YES - All Lowercase,
      5. NO Spaces,
      6. NO symbols (nothing that is over a number because they are for programming),
      7. NO punctuation (please, no apostrophes).
    4. How to center text, and change font, font size, color and bold or italicize.
    5. How to change text color, link colors, background color and how to add a background picture (Modify, Page Properties).

Lesson 2

    1. How to add an HTML Style and/or a CSS Style.
    2. Adding pictures (Common tool bar, click on the tree).
      1. Add an Alt description.
      2. Wraparound text.
      3. Aligning image with text.
    3. How to preview (click on the world).

Lesson 3

    1. How to link pages (your pages and other websites). It's easy, just go to the Property Inspector and find Link, then use the folder icon or the pointer.
    2. How to add anchors to a long page (use the anchor icon on the Insert bar - under the common tab).
    3. How to add an email link (the email link button on the insert bar - common tab).
    4. Adding a horizontal rule and how to edit it (add the ruler from the Insert bar - common tab - to edit it just double click on the actual line and make the changes on the property inspector).

Lesson 4

    1. How to insert and use tables (insert it from the Insert bar - yes, common tab - then edit it from the property inspector).
    2. Design View vs Layout View (for this one use the Insert bar, layout tab).

Lesson 5

    1. Image Maps (use a picture to make different parts of it link to different pages).
    2. The only other buttons on the Insert Bar - common tab - you will ever use are the Fireworks and Flash buttons, and then ONLY if you create html fireworks buttons or flash movies. All the other tabs you won't even need.
