6th grade Science:

Monday - Students will continue to take notes in outline format, in their small teams, while I continue training everyone on their water quality jobs one team at a time!

Students received their Hood Canal field trip permission slips today. Each class will be going for the entire day on different days. I would like all these permission slips filled out, signed and returned by this week.

HW - Hood Canal field trip permission slips.

Tuesday - This week, as teams finish their training, we will begin to walk down to the creek to test the waters (so to speak).

Today I will still be training teams while the rest of the class continues to work on their outline notes.

HW - Hood Canal field trip permission slips.

Wednesday - Today we were ready to have the probes teams conduct their water quality tests on Chimacum Creek. Teams tested for Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Turbidity, Conductivity, Flow Rate and Temperature while the rest of the class played kickball nearby.

HW - Hood Canal field trip permission slips.

Thursday - Today the kits teams will get to conduct their water quality tests. Teams will test for Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Total Dissolved Solids and/or Suspended Solids, Nitrates, Phosphates and Fecal Coliform Bacteria. We will only go down to the creek to collect water, the testing will be done back in class while the probes teams continue working on their note-taking.

HW - Hood Canal field trip permission slips.

Friday - We will finish any water quality testing that we didn't finish Wednesday or yesterday. Students are also continuing to take notes in outline format while they are not working on water quality.

HW - None, everyone should have turned in their Hood Canal permission slips in by today.

7th grade Science:

Monday - As part of the Earth Movement project, students are going to look at scientist ideas about plate tectonics to see if their ideas match up with what scientists think!

Students will be researching plate tectonics using the resources I've collected for them. Students will now take notes in their notebook using the Cornell Note-taking Method. This way students will learn two ways of taking notes.

HW - None

Tuesday - Once students are done with their plate tectonics research, I will get them started on creating websites to show what they have learned through this Earth Movement project.

In the meantime, students continue taking notes in their notebook using the Cornell Note-taking Method.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today students started reading, summarizing and taking their own notes using the Cornell Note-taking Method. They are reading the following websites.
