Computers Level Two

Project 6

1. Go to the Apple Menu. Open a ClarisWorks spreadsheet.

2. Let's pretend that your company has been earning some money and

you are going to make a spreadsheet to see if you can find any

trends (how your company is doing).

In cell A1 write down the title for this spreadsheet,

{name of your company}'s 1998 Earnings: (Resize the column so that it fits.)

3. In the row from B3 to M3, type in the 12 months of the year.

In the column from A4 to A7, type in Week 1, Week 2 and so on

until Week 4 (your yearly earnings week by week).

4. Fill in all the cells for every week of all 12 months with the following

figures (type them in exactly as seen here):

5. In cell A8, type Totals. Go to cell B8 then go to Edit, Paste Func-

tion... Pick SUM(number1,number2,) then click OK. Change

the formula so that it looks like this: =SUM(B4..B7)

Still in cell B8, go to Edit, Copy. Then paste that formula on the

whole row from C8 to M8. Notice that it adds up each one!

6. In cell N8 calculate the grand total of earnings you had in 1998.

(Hint: Use the sum formula.)

7. Save this in your file folder, call it Earnings and let's look at

some charts that you will be using in future projects!

8. In order to make chart you must highlight the data that you want

included in the chart.

Highlight all the cells from A3 to M8.

Go to Options, Make Chart...

Select Bar, then click on OK.

It's a bit scrunched up so move it around and make it a little bigger

and see what it looks like. The totals are the longest bars because

they are, of course, the totals! Delete that chart. This time high-

light the data from A3 to M7 and make another bar chart. Better.

9. Make the following charts:

10. Save your work and show Mr. González your spreadsheet and

charts.
